About Your Instructor

MrsGuest imageMrs. Guest has been teaching mathematics to students successfully for over 19 years in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Indianapolis public school districts. She has a BS in Mathematics- Secondary Education with Middle School endorsement, a MS in Education-Integrating Technology into the Classroom, an AS in Media Arts- Serious Game Design and Animation, and an AS in Media Arts- Web Design. She has experience in all levels of mathematics including Calculus, Statistics, and the Interactive Mathematics Program. She is an avid user or new technologies such as Sketchpad, GeoGebra, Fathom, Adobe Suite,Google Docs, and 3DSMax. She served as a Secondary Mathematics Instructional Coach for three years and a Math Intervention Coordinator for one year. She is an active NCTM member and well versed in State and National Math Standards.

Along with mathematics courses, Mrs. Guest-Johnson has taught Animation, Acting, Video Production, Photography, digital Imaging, Drawing, and Dance. She holds credentials in CTE Arts Media and Entertainment, Mathematics K-12, Computer Concepts and Applications K-12, Graphic Arts K-12, and Art K-12. She enjoys a collaborative learning environment where students are active learners. She has an excellent rapport with students and enjoys teaching in the face to face and online environments. In her spare time, she currently serves as a math instructor at the University of Phoenix and is also working towards her second masters in administration.

Mrs. Guest joins Fulton College Prep School as a Media Arts, Mathematics, and AP Computer Science Principles Instructor. Outside of her education background in the digital media arts, fine arts, and performing arts, she has real world experience being a professional web designer, graphic artist, SAG & AFTRA actress, dancer, spokes model, photographer, baton twirler, and independent film maker. She relocated to Los Angeles to continue a career in the arts as well as education. She constantly explores the multiple connections between mathematics and art. Currently she serves as an adjunct faculty member at University of Phoenix and an independent contractor with Code.org as a Computer Science Principles Facilitator.

In 2016, Mrs. Guest raised her hand for the XQ Super School Challenge and submitted her teams school design for the California STEAM Academy. CSA is currently in the last phase of the competition.
